Biochemistry in the Undergraduate Curriculum

Undergraduates with an interest in biochemistry are encouraged to consider taking the following courses:

MCB 204: Biochemistry
MCB 205: Human Metabolism and Disease
MCB 208: Techniques of Biophysical Chemistry
MCB 209: Structure and Function of Biological Macromolecules
MCB 222W: Human Disease and the Development of Therapeutic Agents
MCB 226W: Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory
MCB 299: Independent study

Most students interested in the field of biochemistry complete a major in Molecular and Cell Biology, Biology, or Chemistry. Several of the courses listed above fulfill requirements for the major in Molecular and Cell Biology. The independent study is an especially valuable way to gain biochemistry research experience in the laboratory of one of the faculty members in biochemistry.
